Obituary for William H Kenny

William H. Kenny better known as Deacon Bill, age 80, passed away at his residence on July 8, 2016.

Bill Kenny and family moved from Indiana to the Virgin Islands in 1969, settling first in St. Croix, where he was Personnel Director of the Harvey Alumina Co. Bill and Barb's family included three children, two mothers-in-law and several pets. When Bill Changed jobs in 1971 the family relocated to St. Thomas, and he worked in personnel, sales and public relations, even hosting a call-in talk show on WVWI called "Night Line."

In 1984, Bill was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Catholic Church and was assigned to minister to the two nursing homes on St. Thomas. This began many years of service to the elderly and to patients in the hospital. He also was assigned to all three parishes on the island during his years of active ministry.

Bill Kenny always will be remembered for his warm and friendly personality, his great sense of humor and his super big hugs.

Wife: Barbara Dolen Kenny

Sons: Williams M. Kenny (Rhonda), James T. Kenny

Daughter: Kathryn L. Kenny McAllister

Grandchildren: Chelsea McAllister, Christine McAllister, Eric McAllister, Israel Amadisto (Christine), Trina Amadisto, William Kenny Jr., Krista L. Kenny Warkentin (Philip)

5 Great Grandchildren

Many cousins from the Detroit, Michigan area

Adopted Sons: Mark McAllister, Mark Stiehler

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the first viewing on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Celestial Chapel at Hurley Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. The second viewing will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 9 a.m. The mass will follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Eastern Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Hurley Funeral Home and Cremation Center of St. Thomas and St. John.
