Obituary for Luna Potter

Relatives and friends are advised of the passing of Luna Elcena James-Potter who passed away on Saturday September 1, 2018 at the age of 81.

Luna Elcena James-Potter was born and raised on the island of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to the late Ann Elizabeth Smith Mercer and David Gendemon James. She was the third of five children to this union. Her siblings that preceeded her in death are Eva E. Berkley, Carmen L. Lake, Elroy James, and Winifred James. Her surviving siblings are Desmond A. James, Luvina James, David “Jamal Semaj” James, and Cassandra Clark-Lee. Her former husband, Roy E. Potter went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2013.

Luna Elcena James-Potter leaves behind four daughters to mourn her. They are Cheryl M. Potter, Claudette “Oshana” Potter, Colette S. Potter, and Culvette A. Potter;
grandchildren, Kyle “Kuba” Potter, Charren Weston, Shaheto Z. Martin, Kwan Martin, Kikou Martin, Jabari Stridiron (deceased) Shaynel Stridiron, Chazes Stridiron, Malika Bastian, Kwanza Bastian, Judah Bastian, Judea Bastian, Jelani Bastian, Nzinga Bastian, Namibia Bastian, Zauditu Bastian, Negus Bastian, Tija Daley, Keith “Tronn” Andrews (deceased), Khai “Baboo” Andrews, Tarik Potter;
great-grandchildren, Ky’el Potter, Kali Potter, Jz’a Joseph, Nikai Martin (deceased), K’Riyah Thomas, Kizani Bastian, Kaleem Bastian, Zahkeem Bastian, Taitu Francis, Ah’Jahro Frazer, Si’jah Benjamin, Jafari Benjamin, Tafari Benjamin, Amadi Benjamin, J’Nallia Edwards, Zion Bastian, Judah Bastian Jr., Chazes Stridiron Jr., Claudia Stridiron, Elijah Byrd, Verna Liburd, Malakhai Andrews, Melanie Andrews, Tyrell Potter and Amani Potter, as well as the anticipated arrival of an additional 2;



Many nieces and nephews; God-daughter, Verna Thomas; Other relatives, the Brathwaite, James, Turnbull, Christopher, and Smith families; special friends, Arturo Wattlington Jr., Judy Gomez, Bernice Francis, Lionel Mulraine Sr., Ariel Farrington, Zep Bholai-Lawrence, Patrice Anderson, Cheryl Petersen-Clarke, Pauline “Cherrie” Prado, Courtney Woods, organizations and clubs, members of the Charlotte Amalie Class of 1955, members of Down Street People, members of Friends of Denmark, members of East Lioness Club, members of Shenandoah Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida, and other friends too many to mention.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend first viewing on Thursday September 27, 2018, 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Celestial Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home. Second viewing will be held on Friday September 28, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9:00am-10:00am, with Mass immediately following at 10:00am.
Interment: Western Cemetery #3
Arrangements are under the care of Hurley Funeral Home and Cremation Center of St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix.
