Obituary for Leon Alvin "Bushy or Beequia" Lewis

Leon Alvin Lewis, known as 'Bushy' or' Bequia', born in Bequia, St. Vincent BWI, died on October 22, 2016 a the age of 83.

He worked in Frenchtown at Dick Avery's Boathouse as a Bareboat Captain for 18 years and at the Department of Public Works as a Carpenter for 16 years until his retirement in 1995.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Norma M. Lewis of East Orange, New Jersey; sons, Alvin Lewis, Carty Lewis; daughter, Diane Lewis Shaw; sisters, Addie Telesfonof, Rita Peters, Laura Glenn; brothers, Randolph Mitchell, Gilbert, Jerome Eldred Marks of Canada; cousins, Ken and Fonzie Simmons, Terry and Edith Adams, George and Avis Simmons, Rocky MacIntosh; sisters-in-law, Marlene Cay, Carol Smith, Doris Hill, Sharon Hill; brothers-in-law, Carter Hill; special friends: The Richardson Brothers, Allen Henry, Steve, Leslie, Snooky, Jerry and The 'Moby Dick' Carnival Group, Ivan Belle, Lyantine Belle, Jerry and Arlene Stevens, Lloyd Bailey and son, Jeffery, Eddie and Bruno, friend from Public Works and relatives and friends from Bequia, St. Vincent.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the viewing on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Celestial Chapel at Hurley Funeral Home from 9-10 a.m.

The service will follow immediately at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.

Persons wishing to send tributes for the booklet may do so via by Tuesday November 1 , 2016.

Arrangements are under the care of Hurley Funeral Home and Cremation Center of St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix and Tortola.
