Maurice E. Jackson
February 16, 1951 - September 20, 2017
The family of long-time VI Daily News employee, Maurice E. Jackson, sadly announces his passing on September 20, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained during Hurricane Maria. He was born in St. John’s, Antigua on February 16, 1951 to Ruth and Herbert Jackson. He moved to St. Thomas in 1976 and married Cynthia Jackson, née David in 1978. He subsequently joined the U...S. Navy where he was stationed in Scotland for several years. He then returned to St. Thomas where he worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years, including at Citi Bank and First Bank before joining the Circulation & Distribution Department at the VI Daily News. He was a devoted husband to Cynthia Jackson and a dedicated father to Michael K. Jackson, Michelle Jackson-Frett and Maurice H. Jackson. He was well respected both personally and professionally throughout the island. He was known for his easy going nature and for being a loyal and reliable friend, employee and manager.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife Cynthia; sons Michael (Chanene) and Maurice; daughter Michelle (Renard); mother Ruth; brothers Vincent (Eren), Reginald (Sadie), Patrick, Keith; Glen; and sister Christine; grandchildren Laila, Jace, Michaela, Malia, Semaj, Shabree and Sadiya as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends too numerous to mention.
In addition to his father Herbert Jackson, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carlton Jackson.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the viewing on Saturday October 14, 2017, the Celestial Chapel of Hurley Funeral Home from 10:00AM-11:00AM with funeral services from 11:00AM-12:00PM at the same location. Interment is at Eastern Cemetery at 2:00PM
